Fall 2007
A BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR A PICNIC !
Our PSU meteorologists really put in an order for the picture
perfect day for the annual picnic…we must have a
connection somewhere. More than 60 people gathered on
Dave and Elaine Rugh’s beautiful lawn – we cheered
(our alma mater), we jeered (the anti-alumni, pro-freshman
trivia), and we played the annual volleyball match
up between the freshman and alumni. The best part was
that we had a combination of ages from the Class of 1960
up to the Class of 2024! We had a variety of current students
who shared their knowledge of PSU with our freshman
and even Kevin Barron, Director of Alumni Services
at University Park, was present at our soiree. Thank you to all who helped, attended, and
participated in this year’s successful event! WE ARE…PENN STATE!
A Message From Your President
MaryEllen Stella ‘74
We became the Maine-New Hampshire Chapter in 1985.
Yes, we are celebrating 22 years! We have some of the
same board members from this era – John and Terry
Curtis, Scott Cunningham, Gus Stella and me. Hats
off to all of us who have stayed on board for 22 years! Our
other board members who deserve a HUGE hand are Doug
and Danielle Peckham, Dan and Lindsey Roberts,
Liz and Chris Fay, Dave Rugh, John and Elaine
Pino, Mike Stella, Andrew Hershberger, and
Stephanie Ashbaugh. I am sad to say that Steve, Mary
Rose and Rebecca Sefter, members who have served
diligently on our board for years, have moved to North Carolina. We wish them the best
of luck and know that they will settle right in the state that loves basketball! Steve, don’t
forget your football roots!!
A QUICK GLANCE AT OUR PAST YEAR
We certainly had an exciting time during the Homecoming parade when we won
second place for spunk and spirit for an out-of-state chapter! We were the Lion Lovin’
Lobsters and dressed the part from head to toe. Yes, we were all adorable but not as cute
as the Arizona Chapter who won first prize with sombreros and a football balloon…guess
they came the farthest because we were definitely cuter in our costumes! The lobster
costume even made the Penn Stater magazine! We tailgated with all of the New England
Chapters, thanks to Dean Delach from CT – 100 of us gathered at two converted
Fullington party buses right by the stadium. We partied before and after the
game – what a time we all had! Why not join us this year?
